That’s one of the main reasons why I love the internet so much (that doesn't sound nerdy at all ... ) but seriously sometimes you just come across amazing discoveries that you want to share with the world. Here’s one of those! I found a great article via Colossal that I wanted to share with you today.
Hubert Duprat is a french artist who started studying and learning about caddisflies, and came up with a wonderful idea : Had a caddisfly ever naturally encountered a fleck of gold in a river and used it to build a home? And then one step further: what if a caddisfly had only gold and other precious stones to work with?
For years, Duprat has been collaborating with the tiny insects, providing them small aquariums of gold, turquoise and pearls that the the larvae readily use to construct their temporary homes.
Here’s the result… the photos speak for themselves!
